SCUBA DIVING
Prior to Guam, I could probably count on two hands the number of
scuba dives I’d made
since I qualified way back in 1974. But just in the past year, I’ve
done at least 20! From
exploring the deck of a sunken WWII Japanese war ship at night,
to diving with sharks
swirling all around me, I’ve been able to do the type of diving
I’ve only dreamed about in
the past. Even JoAnn, who isn’t scuba certified (her doctor has
recommended against it
due to her heart surgery back in ‘88), has become somewhat of an
accomplished snorkler
diving in such places as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and
Jellyfish Lake in Palau.

In addition to diving, another outdoor pasttime we’ve really enjoyed
is what the locals
here call “Boonie Stomping”. You might call it hiking, trekking,
backpacking, kayaking,
etc. but it all comes down to getting out and exploring. Guam has
some amazing natural
